About me

My name is Chris Collett, I am  a multimedia artist with a focus on ceramics, metal, and painting. I am currently a college student. Working with many media the process from start to finish details how something that starts out formless can become shaped into an artwork.

I create artworks that embody nature specifically the ocean. I use aquatic life, water forms, and oceanic vessels as symbolism relating to the human experience and emotions to that environment. Correlations are made between the behaviors, myths, and simply state of being of these creatures below the water, with ties to how the water is around them. My works are an attempt to blend human emotions to the behaviors of the ocean. With my work I detail the sublime nature of something many people are terrified of, which is the ocean, paralleling it with the sublime nature that is the human experience.
